Releif from lower back pain

I recently started working in retail and stand all day.  My lower back really hurts after a shift.  Does anyone have any suggestions for pain relief . I have been putting some ICY HOT on my back after my shift but it does not help that much.  I am overweight and I know that does not help wither.  Any suggestions?

Self-Defense Lessons at the Intersection of Mindfulness and Salad

A brief word of warning: The content of this blog entry represents a special kind of realization for me. For just the other night, the actual culmination of my decades of martial arts training came down to a few simple moments in the kitchen with my daughter — when a number of "radical" approaches to "self-defense" suddenly united in harmony.

You see, for a few years now, I've been writing about how self-defense is more than physical — more than blocking and punching and repeating… Continue

Mindful Chemotherapy Infusion

While receiving chemotherapy, I practice mindfulness.  It is harder to practice while receiving chemo, then it was when I took radiation therpay.  Today, on the last day of my current chemo round, I remembered my friend who I met on the last day of my radiation therapy.  I wrote this poem.

S.

Like the clouds
You make me
 mindful

The impermance
Of it all

I will grab now

In every moment

Hi Mossier,  We're so glad to have you with us. Can you explain more about what you feel this aversion is a reaction to? Many Thanks,  The Savor Sangha

patience!

HiI am new here and delighted to find a forum for those interested in Buddhism, mindfulness and health! Whilst at the start of my journey I have made some progress and try to incorporate the teachings into everyday actions. However I struggle with an aversion that just should not be there. I do realise it's me creating it but I can't seem to switch it off as I can with other aversions! I find my husband's laziness maddening. I have tried to work on this but hope you can guide me in how to alter…See More

I may not be helpful here on nonattachment specifically, but Peace is Every Step, and the later Peace is Every Breath talk about practicing mindfulness and Thich Nhat Hanh's term "interbeing." Welcome to the community! Cee

Newbie

Hi - I am totally new to the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh (only heard of him this morning) and have never read any of his books. I will definitely buy Savor, but can anyone tell me which of his books I should read to learn about non-attachement? He has written so many books I just don't know where to start.TIASee More
